Our Lady of Good Health





St. Mary’s Basilica, a sacred Christian shrine in Bangalore, Karnataka, India, has been a place of faith and miracles for generations. People  come here, seeking the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary—and many have experienced divine blessings in return.

At the Shrine’s entrance stands a small yet powerful statue of Our Lady with an incredible story. In 1832, when miscreants attacked the Church, everything was destroyed—except this statue. Legend says those who tried to pull it down were struck blind. Just as the mob set fire to the Church, police and military forces arrived, saving the sacred place. 

Today, this miraculous statue is honored in grand, flower-adorned processions during Marian celebrations. 


Prayer to Our Lady 

O Most Miraculous Mother of Good Health, Queen of the world, Star of the sea and the Refuge of sinners! When all deserted and fled from Jesus, you stood beneath the cross sharing His pain and sufferings. 

Teach me, O Mother most faithful and venerable, to love Jesus as you loved Him, and obtain for me all the necessary graces that I may ever remain faithful to Him at all times and in all places. 

O Mother most powerful! Heal me and all my dear ones that we may enjoy good health of mind and body. In trials and temptations obtain from Jesus, my Lord and God, whatever assistance I may stand in need of. 

I fly unto your patronage, O Most Miraculous Mother of Good Health, shield me from all sicknesses and diseases, trials and temptations, and grant unto me good health, peace and prosperity.

Antiphon: 
O Most Miraculous Mother of Good Health, Our refuge and our health, deliver us from everyday evil and give heed to our cries.

Introductory Opening Prayer: 
Mother Most Holy, our refuge and our strength, we thank you for choosing to be present in this holy shrine at Shivaji nagar. Here you dispense your favours to all who are needy and approach you with faith. 

As we stand before you, look graciously upon us O Mother of mercy, compassion and good health. Heal all our ailments both of body and soul. Through your powerful intercession may everyone who comes here be freed from all evils and one day reach eternal heavenly joy with you forever. Amen.

Novena Prayer of Petition: 
O Most Miraculous Mother of Good Health, We love you, and by the love which we bear you, we promise ever in the future to serve you, to do what lies in our power to bring others to your love. 

As you stood beneath the cross, your son Our Lord Jesus said: "Behold your son" and to the disciple: "Behold your mother".
With this confidence, we put all our trust and all our hope in your loving protection, and as your sons and daughters, we beg of you to obtain from the Lord the favours, we ask in humility and in obedience to God's Holy Will, I pray (pause and present your petitions now). 

As you have recommended, we are ready "to do whatever Jesus tells us to do" and so we are confident that by your intercession we would receive these favours along with your blessing and healing.
